LEADERSHIP

Today, I have to admit, has to be one of the most productive SATURDAYS I have yet had this school year. My typical Saturday usually consists of lazing around, pretending to do homework, and browsing the net. Today, I woke up at 9-ish and persuaded myself to get out of bed and head down to the Leadership Conference our campus was holding (University of Alaska Fairbanks). I must say, it was worth every minute of my Saturday. I've always been a leadership guru, just never expressed it here on campus until today. Leadership is an important persona, characteristic, and a skill that one should be proud of. I knew there were more out there, I knew people had it in them... it's about going out and using it to make a difference. Whoopy if you know you got what it takes, but do you have enough to go out there and make your mark? It all starts with one step, the rest will flow smoothly and next thing you know you've left your mark. This leadership conference gave me a good insight of what UAF campus holds, what potential we have for being a rising leadership community. Leadership might be a dragging word for some, thinking you volunteer all your time without getting anything back. To some it might be something they "have" to do for credit, or someother.... but to the few who are out there... it's something FUN, a social gathering, and a experience that cannot be replaced or substituted for anything better. I encourage everyone and anyone to take your first step and get involved. Make a connection, and leave your mark.
